Overview
Give people a way to manage encrypted passwords and notes using their wallet, with a familiar vault interface.
My contribution
I founded the project and built it end to end. I built Rehide’s vault experience and its integrations with encryption, wallets and smart contracts. The client uses AES-GCM encryption and Argon2 key derivation.
Key decisions
Keep the keys with the person
Rehide was zero-knowledge and non-custodial. Passwords and notes were encrypted on the device with AES-GCM, using a key derived with Argon2, before anything was stored, and access came from the person's own Web3 wallet. Rehide never held a copy it could read.
Make ownership portable
Each vault item was stored as an NFT, so ownership sat with the wallet rather than with an account on Rehide's servers. The vault interface stayed familiar: concealed items that open when you need them.
What came out of it
In February 2024, the Oasis Foundation announced a grant supporting Rehide's work on confidential data management with Oasis Sapphire. Rehide ran from April 2023 until it closed in January 2026.
